We’re cool to go...
Five of the labradors and the two westies.
I’m way too scared to leave the pew!
I’m such a new Norfolk terrier, I’ve not even been vaccinated!
A much loved (if very noisy!) Fox terrier.
A very handsome cockerel.
Our chicken is not only beautiful but a great layer!
2010 December Christmas Decorations Workshop
On perhaps one of the coldest days in December, 20 or so ladies assembled at All Saints Church to be shown how to make a Christmas door wreath and a table centre ring by the very clever Christine Harbutt. Then there was the opportunity to choose to make one of them ourselves. See how we did in our gallery.
2011 January Seniors post-Christmas lunch
We usually have a Seniors Christmas lunch in December, at the Village hall. With the hall being out of action, plans were made to have a lunch post-Christmas at the Cock Inn in Lavenham. So many people wanted to go, it took place over two days. See how it all turned out in our gallery .
2011 March Annual Pancake Race
About 40 children and adults raced from Drinkstone to Woolpit.
2011 April Royal Wedding Celebrations
What a wonderful day! Many thanks to those who missed the REAL wedding on TV by working all morning to prepare the Cricket for a memorable party to celebrate the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton. We knew many children would come with their parents, but it was a great joy to see so many others from the village - and then there were the grandparents, friends and many visitors enjoying the afternoon’s events - the Wedding Procession to the Cricket, followed by races, tug-of-war, karaoke, a splendid tea for the children and a barbecue. And the weather was kind! Click here for the gallery of photos and reports.
2011 Annual Pet Service at All Saints
June 5th saw the Annual Pet Service for blessing of creatures great and small. A record tally of six black labradors, two westies, a Norfolk terrier, a Fox terrier, three gerbils and two chickens and one cockerel made for a wonderful service.
2011 King James Celebration Weekend
The exodus from Egypt was re-enacted in Woolpit and Drinkstone recently (9th to 10th July), as part of the Lavenham Deanery’s celebration of 400 years of the King James Bible. It took loads of preparation!
Passers-by in Woolpit were surprised to see eight foot Egyptian statues in the grounds of St Mary’s on Sunday afternoon. Pharaoh and Moses were in attendance as a barbecue took place, amidst craft activities and dressing-up. Then the exodus began: people of all ages undertook the journey from Woolpit to Drinkstone, as was the case when the Israelites set out on the trek from Egypt to the Promised Land. There was a treasure hunt to take part in: a plague of frogs, a shower of quail, a treasure trove of valuables and Moses’ father-in-law Jethro were among the sights waiting to be spotted along the way.
With the crossing of the Red Sea successfully accomplished, and the wilderness negotiated, the crowd came in sight of the Promised Land… At All Saints Drinkstone, there was a chance of refreshment from the “manna from heaven” café, crafts to work on, and a bouncy castle to run off the last reserves of energy. Plus... wonderful exhibits of Mount Sinai, the tabernacle and the ten commandments in the church building.
All in all, a great weekend to remember. It brought along lots of people from the
two villages and from the surrounding area. Many thanks go to Ruth, Sue G, Mike and
Sue the organising team at Woolpit and Drinkstone for their dedicated hard work.
A fun weekend, but one which showcased the content of the Bible in a fresh way to
allow people to get to grips with what God says!Check out our gallery for loads more
photos. And see the clip on YouTube for more:
